Getting to the finished work...

I take photographs - either yours or mine - that show the subject in a pose or attitude that reflects what we want to capture.  From there, I use my imagination (and sometimes my computer!) to fill in the blanks - a new background, a meshing of subjects or a look in the eye - until we have just what we’re looking for.  Finally, work begins on the finished piece.  Unlike some other mediums, pastels are pretty unforgiving so it is very important to know exactly how each color and line will lay.  In the end though, it is always a surprise to see how it all comes together!
